About Us

At a glance

This is what distinguishes us as a company

Many years of expertise: Wiring harness systems and components have been our core competence for more than 35 years.

By strategically shaping the Group, SEBN is using the momentum to position itself as a sustainable system and complete solution provider. With an eye on transformation and a finger on the pulse of the times, we work as a full-service supplier from concept development to series production for our customers.

Individual mobility moves us. That is why we use our innovative strength to work on future topics in the automotive industry, such as electrification through our expertise in the high-voltage segment.

We are a global player with a development and production network of 40 sites in 14 countries.

As a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Industries and Sumitomo Wiring Systems, we are one of the world’s largest wiring harness system manufacturers.

More than 35 years of SEBN: How we have grown

In 1986, the success story of Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze SE began under the name Volkswagen Bordnetze GmbH in Berlin. In the beginning, we produced the first wiring harnesses for the VW Polo and VW Golf. In the meantime, we have grown strongly and have been a part of Sumitomo Electric Industries since 2006. For more than 35 years, our customers have relied on our expertise. You can find the milestones of our company history here.

Strong in the Sumitomo Electric Group

We are part of a strong group of companies. As a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Industries and Sumitomo Wiring Systems, we offer our customers high-quality, individual, and sustainable complete solutions from a single source. Whether wiring harness systems, electronics, components — the expertise that distinguishes us through cooperation within the group of companies makes us a strong partner for our customers and their concepts for the future. In this way, we are actively driving forward the transformation of the automotive industry. As a full-service supplier, we at SEBN take on complete responsibility for the development and production process of this overall system. Our long-standing relationship with customers from the automotive industry and their customer satisfaction are proof of our above-average performance in development, quality, and logistics.

In addition, the protection and security of our customer data is of particular concern to us. For this reason, in addition to the legal requirements, SEBN regularly undergoes the TISAX audit (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange), a cross-company testing and exchange procedure for information security in the automotive industry and is thus a TISAX-certified supplier.

40 Locations in 14 Countries

Responsible for Sustainability

As a globally operating company, we are aware that sustainability and economic success go hand in hand. We treat the environment, resources, and people with respect. For example, all companies in the Sumitomo Electric Group strive to protect the global environment through waste reduction and energy saving initiatives. At all SEBN sites, compliance with global environmental standards is ensured through the “ISO 14001” certification of our environmental management system. With this standard, we as a global player are doing our part to counter climate change and increasing environmental problems through heightened awareness and active acceptance of responsibility.

The Sumitomo Spirit

We strive for best performance and to let integrity guide our work. We promote an empowering corporate culture that respects the diversity, personality, and individuality of our employees. In doing so, we adhere to the highest ethical standards in order to comply with laws and regulations. We are guided by the principles of the Sumitomo Spirit:

Banji-nissei

Do your sincere best, not only in business, but in every aspect of your life.

Shinyo-kakujitsu

Place value on integrity and good management.

Fusu-furi

Adapt to the changes in society in time, but remember not to make short-term unethical gains.

Compliance – Code of Conduct

Based on the Sumitomo Spirit, the SEBN Code of Conduct defines our standards of behavior that should guide all company employees and help us to act with integrity in business.

The Code of Conduct is distributed to all Sumitomo Electric Group companies worldwide and applies equally to all employees, officers, and directors. The Code of Conduct provides the necessary resources to align decisions with ethical standards.
